Body oiling is a cross cultural ancestral practice. Mixing plants with different fats has been created by women to nourish the nervous and immune systems as well as a way to know and nuture our bodies intimately. Our skin is primed to absorb fat substances so our nervous systems can easily access the plant medicines.

When I am making the oils I await the permission, or the call of plants to create. In this way each batch has its own creation story. Our Mugwort is grown on Bunjalung country and is nourished by moon blood and prayers. Black cockatoo and Azestulite crystal are buried beneath. She is home to a myriad of wild animals. A goanna looks wisely over her from his tree behind and sometimes meanders through on his way to “check on our chickens”. Paddymelons play amongst her low lying branches making little tunnels. Small finches, wagtails and yellow breasted robins flit within her protective embrace. 

And of course she is visited often by a beautiful big well fed carpet python. She is abundant and a clear communicator and one of the biggest teachers and loves of my life.

An excellent oil to annoint parts of the body or to realx and soften into a deep loving embrace of a full body oil. Create a space to let go of overwhelm and feel held by Motherwort who as her name suggest is a mother to us all.
When the body is cramping or tensions have found the way into your muscles, Comfort Oil will help release and soften. Like a warm deep exhale, Motherwort has an affinity with the heart, easing heatache and overwhelm. Lavender and chamomile with letting go and slowing down.

Each batch having its own creation story. She was originally one plant put in a garden but now grows anywhere she pleases. Showing me she wont be boxed in! In her season she is so abundant and appears in new places every year. Suprising and deighting us. She is reborn and dies  reminding us of the beauty in these aspects of ourselves. That in the flux of life we need holding. We need witnessing. She does this. With her strong stem and flowers that welcome a festival of bees and insects, Summer is a hive of activity and joy.
She soothes and understands the overwhelm of living in this time and reminds us that times of rest are essential. As she dies so many spiders make their webs with her bone coloured arms. In the Autumn afternoon light they glisten most beautifully.  Beetles lay their eggs.
As she rests new stories are woven.
She invites us to draw comfort from her. To allow her to restore us.
Lavender and chamomile help us to s.l.o.w.w.w.w down. Give ourselves time and presence.
